State political history book available

CARSON CITY -- A new edition of the "Political History of Nevada," which will give political junkies a lot to read, is hot off the presses and ready for distribution.
Secretary of State Dean Heller has issued the 10th edition of the book which records election results back to the beginning of Nevada; lists all state officers; and includes sections on ethics in government, women in politics and a brief history of early Nevada.
Andrea Engleman, public information officer for Heller, said 7,500 books were printed but the office has only enough money to pay for 2,200. She said the free books are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those who want a copy of the book should send a written request to the secretary of state's office. Engleman said the public should not telephone in their requests.
It will be up to the 1999 Legislature to decide whether to allocate more funding so Heller's office can purchase the remainder of the books from the state Printing Office or there should be a charge of an estimated $6.50 for each book.
The book contains all information up to and through the 1996 election. Engleman said the publication was delayed in printing because of a price increase in the interim.
