New treasurer appointed to finish Aston’s term

Ms. Fitzpatrick currently serves as client service manager/senior audit manager at Deloitte & Touche. She has more than 17 years of experience in governmental accounting and finance, including seven years as Michigan's deputy state treasurer.

Aston, 45, resigned and pleaded guilty last month to one felony count of theft. His resignation is effective March 13.

Aston also must repay the $22,000 that is missing from money he raised for the annual conference of the County Fiscal Officers Association, held last May in Mesquite.
