Brief: Extension issued for $57 million project

The City Council granted an extension to March 1 for Nevada State Bank and American Nevada Corp. to show evidence of financial ability to build the proposed $57 million project at Fourth and Lewis streets.
Originally, financial evidence was to be due by Dec. 31. City staff took responsibility for the delay, saying they needed more time to approve the building's plans.
The city has contributed $6.4 million in redevelopment money for the project. Crews are expected to break ground on the site in 1999, with construction slated to take 14 months.
