The new agreement will allow EVA to extend its existing flights to Los Angeles and San Francisco on to Las Vegas and Phoenix on America West flights. Passengers would be able to check baggage through to their final destinations.
EVA Air operates 14 flights a week between Los Angeles and Taipei, and three between Los Angeles and Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan, and 10 between San Francisco and Taipei. From Taipei, the carrier provides connections to destinations throughout Southeast Asia and the South Pacific region.
EVA was one of the airlines Gov. Bob Miller negotiated with in his tourism mission to Asia.
