Farmer says he has no plans to move for proposed development

Friday, Dec. 18, 1998 | 2:34 a.m.

The city is considering annexing 520 acres of land, including 170 acres owned by the Combs family, where they raise some 6,000 hogs.

Mayor Michael Montandon said the Combs parcel of land is large enough that it could determine the outcome of an annexation vote by property owners.

Combs said he isn't about to abandon his farm. He hasn't ruled out moving the hogs to another location, but says finding a location that would be convenient to the family may be difficult.

A hearing is scheduled on the annexation issue Feb. 3.
