The Clark County School District administrator who was arrested last week for soliciting a prostitute has been suspended without pay.
Ron Malcolm, 36, has not been back to work since his arrest on the misdemeanor crime. The coordinator of hearing and visually impaired programs in the district was ordered to stay home as school district administrators investigate his use of district time.
Malcolm now must decide whether to challenge the suspension. If he does not, the district could proceed with firing him.
Malcolm was arrested at 11 a.m. on Dec. 10, according to police. Sources said a district employee had taken Malcolm, who has some sight and vision loss himself, to an undisclosed location, where he allegedly offered money in exchange for a sexual act from a man he believed was a prostitute.
Malcolm earned $69,000 a year. He supervised teachers of the hearing and visually impaired and had minimal contact with children, district officials said. Malcolm joined the district in 1992.
