Gunmen killed two people, including an elderly woman, in unrelated shooting incidents Monday.
The dead included the woman who would have celebrated her 72nd birthday on Christmas Day and a 22-year-old man killed in a drive-by shooting while sitting at a bus stop.
The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
North Las Vegas Police Sgt. Michael Judd said the woman was killed around 5:30 p.m. by a man who walked up to the victim's residence at 833 Duquesne Ave. and fired several shots through the kitchen window.
A second person in the residence, Joe Chadwick, 19, was wounded in the hip. He was treated at University Medical Center and released.
Judd said witnesses reported the shooter was wearing dark clothing and was accompanied by a second man, described as wearing light colored pants.
The two suspects fled on foot east on Duquesne Avenue.
The drive-by shooting in Las Vegas occurred shortly before 9 p.m. at a bus stop at Owens Avenue and Nellis Boulevard.
Metro Police homicide Lt. Wayne Petersen said the victim was sitting on a bench when a small gray vehicle, Nevada license plate No. 925 ETM, stopped, and the driver fired two shots into the man's chest.
Witnesses said the driver was a man in his 20s.
