School district plans to rewrite policy that conflicts with state law

A report by the Nevada Division of Investigation concluded that a current and-or former department manager committed embezzlement by loaning a refrigerator and authorizing the use of facilities and food for employee parties and other private gatherings.
Under the school district's existing policy, supervisors are authorized to loan or give out district property or services.
But NDI's report, which followed a nine-month investigation, said the policy is in apparent conflict with state law.
School board members also will consider sending the report to the district attorney's office for review.
