Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998 | 9:42 a.m.
The Reno Planning Commission recommended approval of the $130 million project, including a 240-foot tall marquee oil derrick complete with a 70-foot gas flame on top.
Baer played the dimwitted Jethro Bodine on the show that aired from 1962-1971.
He believes his proposed Beverly Hillbillies Mansion & Casino will rejuvenate Reno's sluggish gambling and tourism economy and pump new life into the struggling Park Lane Mall.
The City Council will hold a public hearing on the project tonight beginning at 6 p.m.
