Brief: LV to add 50,000 jobs over two years

UNLV's Center for Business and Economic Research said Clark County employment of 580,300 jobs in 1997 has risen to 606,100 this year. It predicted gains to 632,800 jobs in 1999 and 657,500 in 2000.
At its 1999 economic outlook conference, the UNLV center also predicted softening hotel room occupancy rates as the city's room count grows to 121,108 by the end of 1999, up 10.2 percent from now. There should be 125,000 rooms by the end of 2000, the center said.
Visitor volume of 30.2 million people is projected to rise to 31.5 million in 1999 and 32.5 million in 2000.
