Brief: Aristocrat profit to soar 50 percent
Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998 | 12:19 p.m.
The company reported cash flow of U.S.$21 million last year.
"This reflects continued strong sales in New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria," Aristocrat Managing Director Desmond Randall. "We have seen efficiency gains in manufacturing and a greater emphasis on cost control throughout the entire organization."
Aristocrat has benefited from a decision by the New South Wales state government earlier this year to allow pubs and clubs to increase the number of slot machines they can install from 15 to 30. New South Wales, which doesn't restrict the number of slot machines registered clubs can install -- has about 95,000 machines.
