Lost girls get help from firefighters

Monday, Dec. 14, 1998 | 11:21 a.m.

Two young sisters who recently moved to Las Vegas from Hawaii missed their bus this morning and became lost as they tried to find their way to school.

The potentially disastrous story had a happy ending when the girls, in the first and second grades, stopped at a fire station for help.

"It was very commendable of the girls," said Capt. Jim Perkins, whose station is located at Lamb Boulevard and Alexander Road, more than a mile from the school the girl's attend -- Lois Craig Elementary, 2637 Gowan Rd.

Firefighters served the girls scrambled eggs while waiting for someone from the school to pick them up.

Perkins said the girls, Chanah Marie Kealoha, and Crystal Kealoha, 6, weren't sure about the name of the school they attended, but they knew their teachers.

They also didn't know where their mother, Chris, a nurse, worked.

A phone call to the school district quickly located the proper school.
