Letter: Justice paying way to retreat
Friday, Dec. 11, 1998 | 12:11 p.m.
Although I was recently elected as one of the justices of the court, I do not take office until Jan. 4. I was asked to attend and plan to do so at my own expense.
The Nevada Legislature recently increased the number of justices to allow the court to meet in panels, one in the south and one in the north. This is a new process to be instituted by the court this coming year and the procedure to implement it will take considerable planning.
I have been randomly selected to serve on the northern panel for the first seven months and plan to spend a majority of my time in Carson City. In addition to the separate deliberations by the two panels, the entire court will decide major cases in Carson City.
