MGC, which plans to incorporate Internet access as part of its bundled package of telecommunications services, provides local, long distance and data transmission to small business and residential customers in Las Vegas, Atlanta, Chicago and Southern California.
James Thompson, LjNet's president and chief executive officer, will head MGC's Internet service program.
"MGC's purchase of LjNet will add to our complement of products and provide our customers enhanced value, savings and a simplified billing arrangement," said Nield Montgomery, MGC's president and chief executive officer.
Clark Wood, MGC's director of investor relations, said the deal is expected to close in February.
