Two children die one day after apartment fire
Thursday, Dec. 10, 1998 | 10:17 a.m.
A 5-year-old boy and his 9-year-old sister had been in critical condition at University Medical Center since the Wednesday morning fire.
The children had been sleeping in a back bedroom of the second-floor apartment when the fire began.
Fire officials said the fire was accidental, and believe the children may have been playing with matches.
The children were in the care of their 14-year-old aunt, who suffered some smoke inhalation and was not seriously injured.
The children were the seventh and eighth fire fatalities in Las Vegas this year.
