State authorizes creation of credit card system for agencies

The commercial credit cards will let state agencies buy low-dollar goods and services directly from suppliers and will replace local purchase orders. The cards can't be used for personal use or travel expenses.
Agencies using the cards must pay all charges in full at the end of each billing cycle.
The program is designed to reduce red tape, delays and paperwork for small and repetitive orders of supplies and services needed by state agencies.
The Board of Examiners also signed a new lease to move the Economic Development Department into the old Fireside Inn in Carson City.
The original lease last June fell through because the proposed buyers were unable to complete a deal with owner George Halyak.
Carl Dahlen of Economic Development said the transaction with David Meyer of Kenton Hills, Ky., is a 10-year lease, contingent on his purchase of the old property across from City Hall.
