Bitter church battle may be heading for compromise

The Serbian Orthodox church earlier announced plans to build a church that would be 123 feet tall, with a 27-foot tall cross atop its steeple.
Residents in the area complained during a heated debate before the Clark County Commission Wednesday, prompting a possible compromise. Church officials suggested the possibility of reducing the height to 85 feet.
Serbian church members purchased the property in the early 1980s, long before most homes existed in the area.
