Long Beach Ice Dogs 2, Manitoba Moose 1
WINNIPEG--Jan Nemecek scored at 15:59 of the second period to give the Long Beach Ice Dogs (19-7-0) a 2-1 win over the Manitoba Moose (16-4-3), and end the IHL's longest active winning streak at seven games, Sunday at Winnipeg Arena. It was also the first regulation loss in 13 games for the Moose. Long Beach moves back into a tie with Houston for the IHL points lead, with 38. Penalties made the difference for the Ice Dogs. Both Nemecek and Eric Manlow scored on power plays, while the Long Beach defense killed all six of Manitoba's extra-man chances. Winning goalie Manny Legace faced 18 shots, allowing only Patrice Tardif's second-period goal. Richard Shulmistra stopped 23 of 25 in goal for Manitoba.
Cincinnati Cyclones 5, Indianapolis Ice 4 (SO)
INDIANAPOLIS--Jeff Shevalier and Todd Simon scored in regulation and the shootout to help the Cincinnati Cyclones (15-9-2) defeat the Indianapolis Ice 5-4 Sunday before 2,294 at the Pepsi Coliseum. Cyclones goalie Jani Hurme turned away four straight in the shootout to post his second win since being traded from Detroit last week. Cincinnati trailed 4-2 after giving up a goal to David Hymovitz 13 seconds into the final period. Simon started the comeback with his second goal of the game, at 5:10, and Doug MacDonald tied the score 4:12 later. Simon also assisted on Shevalier's second-period tally. Hymovitz paced the Ice (11-10-4) with two goals and an assist. Sylvain Cloutier added one goal and one assist, and Guy Dupuis netted his fourth of the season. Hurme stopped 32 of 36 shots in regulation. Marc Lamothe faced 28 shots and made 24 saves for the Ice.
Milwaukee Admirals 4, Grand Rapids Griffins 1
MILWAUKEE--The Milwaukee Admirals (13-7-5) won their fourth straight Sunday, 4-1 over the Grand Rapids Griffins (9-13-2) at the Bradley Center. Jeff Nelson scored the winning goal on a power play 8:25 into the second period, after assisting on Jeff Kealty's first-period tally. Goalie Chris Mason stopped 37 of 38 shot to safeguard the win. Robert Petrovicky pulled the Griffins within one early in the third period, but Doug Friedman and David Gosselin helped Milwaukee pull away with goals at 18:15 and 19:34. Grand Rapids goalie Neil Little faced 26 shots and made 22 saves.
