Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998 | 11:12 a.m.

HOUSTON -- Brian Wiseman and Mark Freer scored shootout goals, and goalie Frederic Chabot stopped four straight in the tiebreaker, as the Houston Aeros defeated the Las Vegas Thunder 4-3 Wednesday night at the Compaq center.

Rob Valisevic scored once in the first and once in the second period for the Aeros (15-3-4), and assisted on Mike Yeo's goal in the third.

The Thunder came from behind to tie the score three times in regulation. Defenseman Jason McBain's goal at 14:32 of the third period, off J.F. Jomphe's second assist of the game, forced the tiebreaker.

Russ Romaniuk and Scott Hollis also scored for Las Vegas (5-13-2), which has lost five straight.

Chabot faced 34 shots and made 31 saves to help the Aeros pull within two points of Long Beach at the top of the Southwest Division.

Thunder goalie Petr Franek stopped 32 of 36 shots in the way to his sixth loss of the season.
