The two-part course will be held at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Pkwy. Enrollment (ages 50 or more) is $8, payable to AARP at class time.
The program will emphasize response time adjustments that are related to physical changes or declining perceptual skills. Participants may qualify for auto insurance premium reductions after successfully completing the course. Call 435-3814.
At the Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave., all ages are welcome to make holiday decorations at the "Holiday Spirit to Go," Dec. 5 at 1 p.m. On Dec. 8 at 10 a.m., the library will hold Fa La La La LapSit, with stories and songs. Call 454-2585.
At the Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave., 2- to 8-year-olds can join in for stories and carols during an "Old Fashioned Christmas" Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. On Dec. 9 at 3:45 p.m., children 5 and older can learn the history and meaning of Kwanzaa. Call 453-3434.
At the Spring Valley Library, 4280 S. Jones Blvd., 3- to 5-year-olds can enjoy "Winter Wonderland" Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. Kids will listen to winter stories , watch a Dr. Seuss movie and have refreshments. The library is also hosting "Whooo's Ready To Have Fun" Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m. for all ages to enjoy books about owls and make a snowy pinecone to take home. On Dec. 5 at 11 a.m., the library will hold "The Baker's Dozen," Ages six and older can enjoy Colonial cookie tales and make a cookie cutter ornament for the holiday. Call 368-4940.
At the Sahara West Library all ages are invited to join in on the "Festival Of Candles" the lighting of the candles of Hanukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. Ages six and older are welcome to draw in the "Young Masters Series In The Second Story Park" while listening to music by master musicians and stories by and about artists and authors Dec. 4 on Fridays at 3:30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 11 a.m. Both programs will be at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. At the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road, second- and third-graders are invited to a reading of one of the new books and a cup of hot cider and cookies Dec. 8. Fourth- and fifth-graders can enjoy the same program Dec. 10. Both programs begin at 4 p.m. Call 733-3616.
At the Enterprise Library, 25 E. Shelbourne Ave., 5- to 7-year-olds can participate in "Music in the Air" with Donna Salway from Kindermusic Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. The program will be repeated Dec. 8 at 10:30 a .m. for 1- to 3-year-olds and 11:30 a.m. for 3- to 5-year-olds. Call 269-3000.
At the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Pkwy. all ages can enjoy "Seasonal Sounds" traditional and classical holiday music performed by the Greenspun Jr. High Orchestra Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. Call 435-2078.
