Alexander Ocasio was wanted in Nevada on charges of obtaining money under false pretenses and making a false statement to get unemployment compensation.
He was arrested Tuesday after applying for a job with the West Haven Police Department. The warrant was discovered when police ran a background check.
Officers called Ocasino and said they needed to correct a mistake in his application. Then they sent a car to give him a ride to the station - where he was jailed on felony fugitive charges.
He's now awaiting extradition to Nevada where he will face a complaint accusing him of falsely claiming he was out of work from March through August of 1996 when he was actually working at the Sahara in Las Vegas.
