Lomon finally gets win

EDMONTON, Alberta Hard-luck Stars starting pitcher Kevin Lomon finally caught a break Wednesday night.
Lomon (1-9), who had not won in 15 starts, got the victory in five innings of work in Las Vegas' 7-6 victory over the Edmonton Trappers.
Lomon, who gave up 10 hits, four walks and five earned runs, was supported offensively by Dave Hajek with 4-for-4 and two runs scored; Eddie Williams, 2-for-4 including a two-run homer; and Archi Cianf rocco, who had a solo home run.
The Stars salvaged the last game of the four-game series from the Trappers be fore opening a three-game set against the Tacoma Rainiers tonight at Cash man Field.
The Stars close out the home season with games Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday against Tucson before finishing the 1998 campaign with four games at Colorado Springs.
Stars pitcher Stan Spen cer makes his major league debut tonight, starting for the San Diego Padres at Philadelphia. The left-hander was 6-0 in seven starts for Las Vegas.
