Letter: Starr-led Republicans showed no shame in attacking Clinton
Thursday, Aug. 27, 1998 | 10:10 a.m.
This furor does not really have anything to do with Monica Lewinsky, whom I do not admire, but more about Republican dirty tricks, which they put into high gear as soon as Bill Clinton became president.
They have never let up, which made our current Republican legislators the worst of any year. They did not do their job. They bilked us taxpayers out of millions of dollars. They played partisan politics with a vengeance. They had no shame. They are villains because they cheated our country. We had the first good president in years and they could not stand it.
What kind of Americans are they? When you invaded the privacy of the man and woman in the White House you invaded the privacy of all of us Americans who believe family matters are family matters!
How pure are all you Republicans?
The press, if it is unbiased, should investigate all of you and publish your warts.
This so-called investigation by Ken Starr turned my stomach. Who picked him? Three judges picked by Republican presidents.
According to Lawrence Walsh, the independent prosecutor in the Iran-Contra matter, Starr never had any experience as a prosecutor or as a defense counsel in a criminal matter. He was ill-qualified and he ran amok.
These types of Republicans are abhorrent. I know many decent Republicans, but those in government today have a monopoly on sleaze and revenge.
The voters should put you out.
