Plan to revamp Las Vegas city audits

Stung by criticism that audits critical of city employees were kept under wraps, officials plan to change how the audits are handled.
Mayor Jan Jones is calling for an independent audit department. And she says from now on, the city auditor will report to that audit department rather than the city manager.
A committee was formed to study audit issues after media reports in May that 14 audits and reports had been concealed by city management. Many of the reports reflected poorly on city employees.
