Judge warns candidate against lawsuit

District Judge David Huff warned Walter Christie that he could face hefty costs if he filed a civil suit that was later deemed frivolous.
"I recommend strongly you consult with an attorney because there are consequences to your actions," Huff said. "If you are pursuing something that has already been decided, the court could, upon request, award payment of attorney fees and costs to the county."
In a complaint filed with the court, Christie, a candidate for sheriff, alleged that the method used by the county clerk's office to test voting machines violates state law.
County officials say the tests are conducted to specifications from the computer equipment manufacturer.
