David Mushinsky, 42, of Groton, Conn., was northbound on the Mountain City Highway when his Toyota pickup drifted off the road around 1 p.m. Tuesday, Trooper Rocky Gonzalez said.
Authorities said the truck went into a skid and overturned down a steep gravel embankment after Mushinsky put on the brakes.
The victim, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected, Gonzalez said.
The accident occurred 37 miles north of Elko.
Mushinsky was taken to Elko General Hospital, where he later died.
