Stars’ haven’t switched yet

The Las Vegas Stars have not filed a notice with Major League Baseball to search for a new affiliation.
Thursday was the first day minor-league teams officially could make their intentions known in regard to their parent clubs. The Stars, established in 1983, always have been associated with the San Diego Padres.
The Stars can file any time through Tuesday. If they do, they are not obligated to break away from the Padres.
"We haven't done anything," Stars owner Ken Stickney said. "We haven't made any decisions yet.
"I can see things happening sooner than (Tuesday). But I think there's just a lot of elements to decide."
The Stars potentially can be adopted by the Anaheim Angels, Chicago White Sox and Oakland A's.
Stickney and the team's other four owners, Hank Stickney, Peter Guber and Paul Schaeffer, have discussed the matter in depth, but have yet to reach a mutual conclusion on which steps to take.
"We have four partners and all four are at various stages of the learning curve on this topic," Stickney said. "But once we all soak it in we'll make the right decision."
