Forty percent of the prescriptions dispensed for Viagra are covered by insurance. The majority, 60 percent, is paid from out-of-pocket.
During the initial weeks of Viagra being released, 42 percent of the prescriptions were written by urologists and 34 percent by primary care physicians. Recently, more primary care physicians are writing prescriptions, 55 percent, compared to urologist specialists.
There is no safety information on patients with bleeding disorders or active peptic ulcerations using Viagra. Patients with these conditions should use caution.
Moderate use of alcohol does not seem to affect people who use Viagra.
