White Pine County staves off creditors

Recorder-auditor Joe Petrelli said the only way the county can pay is through the general fund. "We're under extreme scrutiny and we're under pressure to budget cash carefully," he said.

He advised budgeting for the payment to the Tahoma Co. next year after commissioners find a budget source to use, the Ely Daily Times reported.

"I really feel bad about not giving them money. I feel like we've got to start paying them the money we owe," Commission Chairman Carol McKenzie said.
