The names of two men who drowned on Lake Mead Friday have been released.
The bodies of William G. Snow, 37, of Las Vegas and Harold Matthew Morgan, 51, of Henderson were found Friday morning after the two did not return to their camp Thursday night at the Lake.
The two drowned after their 14-foot sailboat capsized on Lake Mead between Indian Canyon Cove and Sandy Cove Thursday night. Wind gusts were believed to have caused the boat to capsize, the National Park Service said.
"During that time there was a wind advisory out for the lake with gusts up to 50 miles an hour," Karen Whitney, spokeswoman for the National Park Service, said.
Two warning flags were flying on launch ramps to alert boaters of the wind gusts, she said. However, there is no developed launch facility at Kingman Wash, where the victims launched, she said.
The two launched the Capri sailboat, which belonged to Morgan, from Kingman Wash on the Arizona side of the lake about 11 a.m. Thursday, Whitney said.
Both men were wearing life jackets when they were found, she said.
The accident was still under investigation today.
