Flood-damaged road finally reopens
Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997 | 11:19 a.m.
The road, the most direct route between State Route 88 and Kingsbury Grade, had been closed for repairs after flood waters undermined the approaches to a bridge over the Carson River.
While the road was being repaired, drivers had to detour several miles to the north or south.
Douglas County Community Development planner Jeff Foltz said the road's reopening is a relief.
While the project took a long time, he added, "The good news is it didn't cost us anything. It was all picked up with federal emergency funds."
