Mayor exceeds pet limit

Jones has eight cats and three dogs scurrying about her large northwest Las Vegas home, exceeding the limit of six pets per household.
Jones had a special fanciers permit to have more than three dogs and three cats at one residence at her old house, but has not transferred it to her new home since she moved in November.
Jones was unavailable to comment Thursday, but city spokeswoman Nadia Wiggins said Jones had only three dogs and three cats when she moved and didn't initially need the special permit.
Now that Jones has more animals, "she's going to renew her pet fanciers license," Wiggins said.
Five of Jones' cats are not licensed as required, but Wiggins said it was because she picked up abandoned cats and didn't plan to keep them permanently.
