* DEADLY CRASH -- A collision between an 18-wheeler and a Ford Mustang at Alexander Road west of El Capitan Way has left one man dead. Robert Keplinger, 51, of Las Vegas was headed west on Alexander in his Peterbilt tractor-trailer rig when a 1970 Mustang, driven by 27-year-old Eric Cropper of Las Vegas, crossed the center line and hit the truck head on, Metro Police said. Cropper was ejected from the Mustang and died at the scene, police said. Keplinger was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Excessive speed on the Mustang's driver part contributed to the accident, police said.
* EMILY'S LIST -- Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa and other elected officials are set to attend a Las Vegas membership drive for EMILY's List, which contributes campaign money to female political candidates. The event, at Las Vegas Mayor Jan Laverty Jones' house, is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Del Papa, a candidate for governor, is expected to be joined by Clark County Commission Chairwoman Yvonne Atkinson Gates, state Sen. Dina Titus, D-Las Vegas, Assemblywoman Barbara Buckley, D-Las Vegas, County Commissioner Erin Kenny, Assemblywoman Genie Ohrenschall, D-Las Vegas, state Sen. Valerie Wiener, D-Las Vegas, and Family Court Judge Fran Fine and Las Vegas Municipal Judge Nancy Saitta. EMILY's List was founded in 1985 and has contributed $6.7 million to pro-choice Democratic women. EMILY is an acronym for Early Money Is Like Yeast -- it makes the dough rise. For more information, contact Diana Wilson at 228-8469. Membership is $100.
