City discusses parking
Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997 | 9:44 a.m.
A special meeting of the Las Vegas City Council scheduled for Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will address downtown urban design and parking issues.
The meeting will be held at the Reed Whipple Cultural Center, at 821 N. Las Vegas Boulevard.
"We'll be looking at urban design, guidelines and code amendments for making the downtown area a walkable urban place," said Theresa O'Donnell, director of the city's planning and development department.
With the new justice center and the new federal courthouse about to be built downtown, there could be a need for more parking.
"We've had a guy working on the parking situation, and on what the needs are and how we're going to meet them," O'Donnell said. "We'll be looking at whether we need to build parking garages and if it would be worth it to do so."
The meeting is open to the public.
