About 2,000 people are expected to attend this year's blessing of the fall harvest of pinyon pinenuts, a traditional food source for Paiutes.
In addition to a blessing ceremony, the event also will feature a pow-wow, Western States Indian Rodeo, fry bread contest and Indian car contest.
Tribal leaders said the festival has been held for about the last 30 years and seems to increase in size every year.
The event also will feature a Miss Pinenut Festival for girls between the ages of 10 and 18, and a Little Miss Pinenut Fesitval for girls from 5 to 9.
