Prosecution to wrap up case against man accused of murdering two

Washoe County Deputy District Attorney Thomas Viloria said he had expected to conclude his case on Friday against David S. Middleton, but he still has a couple of witnesses to call.
Middleton lawyer Fred Pinkerton said he expects the defense to take no more than three days, meaning the case could go to the jury as early as Friday.
Middleton, 36, is charged with the 1994 murder of Circus Circus employee Thelma Amparo Davila of Sparks and the 1995 murder of Sun Valley Elementary School teacher Katherine Powell of Reno.
Genetic analyst Berch Henry testified Friday that two strands of hair matching Davila's genetic makeup were found in Middleton's Sparks storage unit, one of the strongest links yet between Middleton and her.
