Lisa Lilienthal won the 21st annual competition at the Las Vegas Hilton Saturday night, competing against state winners nationwide. The winner and her husband, Shane, have two children.
She will be speaking out on education, health and welfare issues as part of a yearlong public appearance contract valued at some $100,000, pageant founder David Marmel said Sunday.
"She will be representing 60 million married women as a spokeswoman on their behalf," Marmel said.
Other prizes included a mink coat, jewelry and household items.
Mrs. Lilienthal will also represent the United States in the Mrs. World Pageant in Uruguay later this year.
Saturday night's pageant was televised for broadcast at a later date, with singer/actress Florence Henderson serving as hostess.
Mrs. Mississippi, Ronnie Bueche, 27, a registered nurse from Jackson, Miss., was the first runner-up.
