Sprint hosts golf clinic
Monday, Oct. 20, 1997 | 4:19 a.m.
Sprint invites junior golfers from Southern Nevada to participate in a free golf clinic at the Tournament Players Club at Summerlin on Saturday, Oct. 25. The first 300 junior golfers ages 16 and under will be allowed to participate.
The clinic will feature nationally renowned trick-shot artist Dennis Walters. Various golf professionals playing in the Las Vegas Invitational also will drop by.
Walters will hit golf shots with a baseball bat, fishing rod, crutch and radiator hose. Walters has received national awards for his contributions to the game. He is one of five honorary lifetime members of the Professional Golfers Association of America; the others are former President Gerald Ford, entertainer Bob Hope, golfer Gary Player and former PGA legal counsel Lloyd Lambert.
Each of the 300 participants will receive a free Sprint backpack and a refurbished golf club courtesy of the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association, Las Vegas Discount Golf & Tennis and various community organizations.
The clinic is scheduled for 4 p.m., or whenever tournament play is finished for the day. It will be held on the driving range at TPC at Summerlin. The public is welcome to attend.
