Arnie Wexler says he was so hooked on gambling that he bet on hockey games for six months before he knew they were played on ice.
Since conquering his compulsion to gamble 29 years ago, Wexler has become one of the world's experts on the subject.
He and his wife, Sheila, will conduct a compulsive gambling workshop at 7:15 p.m. Friday at the Las Vegas Hilton.
The couple are certified gambling counselors and Sheila Wexler is also an alcohol and drug counselor. Arnie Wexler was executive director of the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey for eight years.
They note that drug addicts and alcoholics are six times more likely to develop a gambling problem than the rest of the population.
