Mary Kornblau said she was waiting for her husband, Barry, to finish playing blackjack and had pumped about $80 into the Nevada Wheel of Fortune machine when she hit the jackpot early Thursday.
"I just stood there when it hit," she said. "I had my mouth open to yell but nothing came out."
Her winnings totaling $2.89 million will be paid in annual installments.
The Kornblaus are vacationing at Lake Tahoe from Richmond, Va.
Wheel of Fortune is a progressive slot machine system made by Reno-based International Game Technology.
