Letter: Why should taxpayers pay for Reagan’s Calif. ranch?

So Gov. Pete Wilson suggests the federal government purchase this white elephant of no particular significance.
What happened to the big-money interests than propelled Reagan into a governorship and then the presidency? Since Reagan is no longer of use to them, why should they pony up the money?
It would be very appropriate for the Reagans to donate the property. But then the government will have to maintain it at taxpayers' expense. Forget it!
