Lawrence is being investigated for allegedly hitting his estranged wife, Stacie Drew Lawrence, after a Sept. 13 concert at Buffalo Bill's hotel-casino in Primm, 43 miles south of Las Vegas, Metro Police Detective Mitch Spears said Thursday.
"There was a fight involving him and his wife, and his wife sustained some injuries," Spears said.
He said Mrs. Lawrence called police to the casino, but when officers arrived, Lawrence was gone.
Spears said Mrs. Lawrence sustained head injuries, but did not have to be taken to a hospital.
Metro Police submitted the case Wednesday to the district attorney's office to decide whether charges should be filed.
Lawrence's attorney, Rose Palermo, declined comment.
Lawrence filed for divorce last month from the former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader he married on March 15.
Lawrence is known for his hits "Time Marches On," "Sticks and Stones" and "Any Fool Can See."
