Patrice Lefebvre, Sergei Klimovich, John Slaney and Ken Quinney scored shootout goals to give the Las Vegas Thunder (2-1-0) a 7-6 win over the Chicago Wolves (3-0-1) in front of 5,081 at the Thomas & Mack Center Tuesday night. The Thunder jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead on goals by Quinney, Steve Bancroft and Trevor Roenick, but the Wolves equalized on tallies by Bob Nardella, Steve Martins and Jamie Baker. Chicago then took a 5-3 lead on second period goals by Martins and Kevin Dahl. The Thunder's Joe Day closed the gap with a shorthanded goal at 17:34 of the second before Alexander Semak put Chicago back up by two at 8:27 of the third. Quinney's second goal of the night, and an 8:38 third period tally by Justin Kurtz, knotted the score and forced the tiebreaker. Konstantin Simchuk faced 33 shots and made 27 saves in goal for Las Vegas, while the Wolves' Wendell Young stopped 21 of 27 shots.
