Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Steve Harney said the vehicle, driven by Gennevere Cornevo, 21, of Reno, was traveling north on the highway about 3 p.m Friday when it went into the median and Cornevo overcorrected.
"The vehicle went into a broadside skid and then into the desert off the right side of the road where it flipped at least five or six times," Harney said.
The 20-year-old, whose name was not released, was thrown from the vehicle, as were four other passengers. Cornevo was the only one wearing a seat belt.
Cornevo and another passenger, Jason Chigas, 24, were in serious condition at University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The condition of A.J. Chigas, 3, was unknown, and Mark Evgenio, 7, was also in serious condition, Harney said. All of the injured are from Reno.
