SAN ANTONIO--Jesse Belanger had two goals and two assists to lead the Las Vegas Thunder (8-9-2) to an 8-3 win over the San Antonio Dragons (6-10-2) Friday at Freeman Coliseum. The win snapped a five-game Las Vegas winless streak. The Thunder took control of the game with first period goals by Darcy Loewen, Sergei Yerkovich and Belanger. Jeff Christian, Trevor Roenick and Radoslav Suchy upped the lead to 6-1 in the second period, and Belanger and Steve Bancroft capped the win with third-period tallies. Loewen, Roenick and Bancroft had single assists. Patrice Lefebvre helped set up four Las Vegas goals, Ken Quinney three and Joe Day two. Jason Bonsignore scored first for San Antonio, 2:24 after the opening faceoff. The Dragons, whose three-game winning streak ended with the loss, did not score again until the third period, when Dave MacIntyre and Mike Craig beat goalie Manny Legace. Legace faced 37 shots, and made 34 saves to seal the win. Scott Bailey lasted two periods for the Dragons, and made 21 saves on 27 shots. Bruce Racine stopped eight of ten in one period of relief.
