Quebec Rafales 5, Detroit Vipers 4 (SO)
AUBURN HILLS, Mich.--Steve Larouche scored the only goal of a five-round shootout to give the Quebec Rafales (10-7-2) a 5-4 win over the Detroit Vipers (10-5-4) Sunday in front of 11,163 at The Palace. Larouche also led the way for Quebec in regulation, scoring the first goal of the game and setting up third period tallies by Marc Rodgers and Liam Garvey. Rodgers also had a pair of assists, and Dan Ratushny picked up a goal and an assist, both in the second period. The win was Quebec's third in a row, and Larouche is nursing a five-game goal scoring streak. Stan Drulia and Peter Ciavaglia each recorded a goal and an assist for the Vipers, who had won two straight coming into Sunday's game. Dan Kesa also scored, and John Gruden assisted on three Detroit goals. Both teams scored three power play goals. Both goalies, Johan Hedburg for Detroit and Quebec's Frederick Deschesne, stopped 30 of 34 shots.
