Authorities recover remains of man killed in flood

The Douglas County sheriff's office said on Monday that at least 95 percent of Fred Pinard's remains, along with some personal items, have now been retreived.
Pinard was working on a front-end loader trying to shore-up the riverbank near a mobile home park when the bank gave way on Jan. 2. Pinard and the rig toppled into the raging flood waters.
A ranch hand working on the Settlemeyer Ranch found a skull and one other large bone on the property near the river last Tuesday while cutting wood. Dental records were used to confirm the victim's identity.
Over the weekend, four tracking dogs helped located other portions of the remains, some of which was buried under about five feet of silt and debris.
