Nevada farmers happy over strong hay market

Mark Moyle, who markets alfalfa for Lahontan Valley growers through Nevada Hay Connection, said premium quality crops this year are bringing $125 to $135 a ton.
Lower quality hay is fetching $100 to $110 per ton.
"It's our busy time of year. We've moved a lot of hay in the last month," Moyle said.
This season was considered an average production year because of rains in June.
"If it hadn't been for the rain early on it would have been a really good year," he said.
Churchill County is the state's third largest alfalfa producer, ranking behind Lyon and Humboldt counties.
