Detroit Vipers 4, Manitoba Moose 1

Auburn Hills Mich---Peter Ciavaglia scored his eighth goal of the season, and Steve Walker added his team-leading 10th, to lead the Detroit Vipers to a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose in front of 9,794 at the Palace Wednesday night. Ciavaglia scored 29 seconds into the game, and Jimmy Carson made it 2-0 at 11:23 of the first as the Vipers (9-5-3) jumped to an early lead. Scott Thomas made it 3-0 in the third before the Moose got on the board on a power play tally by Brad Purdie at 15:57. Walker closed the scoring, hitting the strings on an empty netter at 18:54. Vipers netminder Jeff Reese stopped 25 of 26 shots, while Manitoba's Fred Brathwaite stopped 26 of 29.

Quebec Rafales 4, Michigan K-Wings 3 (SO)

Quebec City---Michel Mongeau, Marc Rodgers, Steve Larouche and Liam Garvey scored in the shootout to give the Quebec Rafales a 4-3 win over the Michigan K-Wings in front of 4,171 at Le Colisee Wednesday night. The Rafales (8-7-2) jumped out to a first period lead on goals by Kimbi Daniels 48 seconds in and by Francois Sasseville at 7:49. The Wings' Jed Fiebelkorn closed the gap with a goal at 14:27. Steve Larouche increased the Rafales lead to 3-1 with a second period goal at 2:14, the K-Wings stormed back on goals by Juha Lind and Brad Berry to even the score and force the tiebreaker. Quebec goalkeeper Frederick Deschesne made 25 saves on 28 shots, while the K-Wings' Manny Fernandez stopped 17 of 20.

San Antonio Dragons 4, Las Vegas Thunder 1

San Antonio---Len Barrie and Ron Hoover both scored in the final minute to help the San Antonio Dragons (6-9-2) to a 4-1 win over the Las Vegas Thunder at Freeman Coliseum Wednesday night. Jesse Belanger's power play goal 3;14 into the game gave the Thunder (7-9-2) a 1-0 lead. Mike Craig evened the score on a power play at 14:49 to open the scoring for the Dragons, and Steve Gibson made it 2-1 at 6:58 of the second. Jason Bonsignore, Rene Chapdelaine and Daniel Shank each had three assists for the Dragons. Scott Bailey posted the win in goal, making 36 saves on 37 shots, while the Thunder's Manny Legace stopped 36 of 40 shots.
