Steven Roger Winters, 51, a real estate brokers, was pronounced dead at the scene in Washoe Valley south of Reno.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said Winters apparently lost control of his car just south of the Bowers Mansion cutoff after drifting into the center median. The car flipped several times. Winters, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected.
The accident occurred around a 2.m.
Minutes before the accident, the patrol said another motorist called NHP dispatch from her cellular phone to report a possible drunken driver.
The witness told troopers that the vehicle was swerving and traveling in excess of 80 mph.
Troopers reported an odor of alcohol on the driver. DUI test results were pending.
